ROAD @ Leeds Playhouse – Integrated Audio Description

Yesterday we kicked off our Pop-Up Season with an Ensemble of ten actors, which is exciting! Equally exciting is the fact that the first show in the season – ROAD by Jim Cartwright, directed by Amy Leach – will integrate Audio Description. This will be managed by the fair hands of our very own Mr Ben Wilson, who is Audio Description Director on the show.

ROAD by Jim Cartwright

THIS IS OUR ROAD! BUT TONIGHT IT’S YOUR ROAD AN’ ALL!

Grab your coat, grab your bag and join us to roll in the gutter and dance under the glitter ball. On an unnamed Northern street, our drunken tour guide Scullery stumbles through living rooms, over cobbles and past lives. Through one raucous night, we meet the many bold, browbeaten and brave residents of this forgotten road. Jim Cartwright’s brutally poetic masterpiece blazed on to stages in 1987, giving a spirited voice to abandoned Northern communities in austerity Britain. This seminal play remains as powerful, resonant and jubilant now as it did then.
